Screen/spoiler for CBX 79z model

Hi from a new UK member
I'm sure some of you have knowledge on this. I've had my CBX for ages and now find holding on to it at 70-80mph is very tiring for long spells. I've been looking at Givi A210 and Givi A240 screens as well as the National Cycle Street Shield and Deflector Screen DX range. Has anyone any recommendations on these or any other currently available products that won't make the bike look too naff!! I also have the low non tubular UK/european handlebars so a fitting on the headlight bracket may be easier??

Welcome to the site, Jim.
At one time i had a Suzuki "S" fairing on a '79.
It offered a surprising amount of protection and looked great, imho.

I have a Shoei FM2 on a '79. It works very well with about half of the windscreen cut off. But, I like clean, undisturbed air around my helmet. Pictures of that bike are somewhere in the archives. It's bright yellow.

Don't buy it if it says Arlen Ness on it. You will pay too much! It is a Viper/Emgo fairing and is sold by a large number of budget retailers under these brands for $60.-

Mike makes a good point, I think Emgo calls it a Viper fairing, they aren't known to be very sturdy.

I have an original Shoei FM2, back then they were constructed from fiberglass, I think they are ABS now, EBay might be a good source for the fairings since the Cafe boom.

Steve's Wes Cooley fairing really looks good on his CBX, maybe we can get him to post a pic of it on his bike, Airtech makes a replica.

Jeff, i can only find this lousy pic when i had an "S" fairing on an '80.
Liked it so much i had one painted for the '79.

Thanks all for the replies. Some nice pics there. I'm trying to find a screen that I can rapidly bolt on or off depending on weather and distances likely to be travelled. Not too fussed about looks if it comes off easily like perhaps the NC Street shields do. Wondered if anyone had any experience of that style.

Just fitted a Fugly screen to the CBX. Yes it is fugly but it really works!!! 70 to 80mph and negligible wind on my body...... only on the legs and hands. Can adjust the height and I have a couple of inches more to lift it if I want. Its a Givi AF49 comes with 4 point fitting kit 2 on forks and 2 on handlebars. Easily removed in future if I want. Now I can hold on without getting tired or blasted about. Almost as good as my VFR for wind-protection. Can also hear the crackle of the over-run on the exhausts which is just great!!!

Yes, it is fugly but if it achieves what you want it to, Kay sera, sera.

Do you guys have Plati-dip over there, it comes in all kinds of colurs and will peel right off if you don't like the looks of it.

Maybe spray the area of the windshield that is below the viewing area of the screen, black, red or a combination to match the tank like Steve did on his GS fairing.

Steve, thank you for the video explaining how that screen/spoiler works. That is neat and so much better that what came before.

Jim, I hope it works as well as Givi says it is supposed to. It looks like a really effective windscreen--technology can improve things. Besides, "fugly" really don't matter if it works well.
