Am I missing a seal from my 82 exhaust?

I thought my 82 CBX was sounding a bit fruity and it sometimes pops a bit on over-run.
Looking at the exhaust cross over pipe there is actually a gap where the 2 pipes should meet! I expect if I slacken all the exhaust clamps I will be able to persuade the pipes to meet but is there supposed to be a seal or gasket there?

Yes there is a round gasket there but I can't see how that would get out of there. Look at the Honda parts fisch.

OK thanks. The carbs were rebuilt by a local dealer and I guess they "misplaced" the seal when they took the exhausts off to get at the carbs

"misplaced" is a nice way of putting it.
It probably fell apart while they were wrestling with the pipes.

And, the sad thing is, the pipes did not have to be disassembled to remove the carbs. FYI for others who may want to do their own carb work on the '82-- the pipes can be lowered enough (just enough!) to get things apart without having to separate them at the crossover.

Thanks everyone. part ordered and on it's way.

When I come to fit it, will I need to loosen both exhaust banks or if I can get away with just one should it be the LHS or RHS, or does it not make any difference?

Place 2 boxes under the rear of exauhst the. Dismantle clamps and unbolt at footrest swing pipes down at front split left and right at crossover and install gasket replace crush gaskets at exhaust port.with pipes supported at rear swing front up and reinstall clamps .

Wow that was a surprisingly difficult job but thankfully successfully completed now and after a short ride this evening appears to have made the bike much quieter.
I had to call a friend in the end as I don't think I would have been able to do it alone.
The gasket i used (from the link in this thread) was an odd construction of correlated layers and I had to peel off one layer from the outside diameter to make it fit and it was rather delicate so I'm not looking forward to having to do it again.
