Offset sprocket
Hi Guys, would appreciate some advice. I am building a CBX cafe racer, i have put on a 2004 cbr1000 front end and a early 80's metmachex swingarm with a 180 rear tyre. I would like to convert from 630 to 530 chain and sprockets. I assume i will need an offset front sprocket for the alignment? Here in South Africa we do not have such things, if you could mention a company that ships to us down here would be great. Thanks. Kyle Rossouw

Re: Offset sprocket
Kyle, you can just reverse the sprocket when installing so that the center flange is towards the engine. No problem clearing the tire or with chain alignment. Been doing it this way with 5.5" X 17" rims using 180 tires for well over 60,000 miles without incident. Example of flange to be reversed can be seen on this example.

Re: Offset sprocket
Rich, do you know if the offset is the same for '79 630 sprocket and the '80-'82 530 sprocket?
And i think the offset is 10mm on the '79?

Re: Offset sprocket
Steve, don't know what the offsets are however I know folks have used this method on both late and early models with success. I'm using on a late model 530 application. Rich
