just a much too late update....after going back and carefully sorting thru all the alignments, it all went back together properly and all is well.
The engine is sitting in New Zealand in a crate waiting for me to get my sorry arse down there to take the 80 engine out of my 79 and install this engine, now fully refurbished and ready to go. Its been about a 3 year process in total.
