Re: R&D platform

After reading Phil's latest addition to "Fueling Options", I really feel motivated
to give sitting up on the side of the bed again another try. Last time I tried (with
help from my wife and daughter) I sat up with little trouble but my leg immediately
developed a serious gasket leak and I immediately had to lay back down. Since there
is no gasket and I've lost my patience with waiting to heal up, I guess it's time to find
a new medical mechanic to get this issue resolved because there's nothing else keeping
me from getting up and being productive. Time to ditch the bandage and get out the
Plastex and Bondo..... :angry-screaming:

Don't want to see you on the next Flex Seal commercial.
Hang in there, Bobcat.

Now there's an idea ! Sure wouldn't hurt to try it !
Or talk to the Doc about grafting that ICOA patch you sent on my leg ! It looks like it
has an adhesive backing on it. I wonder if Viton makes bandages ?

Seriously guys, I appreciate the thoughts and encouragement. I've got to get back to
the shop before I forget where it is :-) :violin:

Has anyone tried soda or vapor blasting all the factory black paint off of an 81-82 motor ?
My project motor won't be black. I don't want to bead blast it unless nothing else works.

I just soda blasted all the silver paint off my ‘79. I don’t expect the black paint would be any different.

Dewey ! 2nd one for emphasis ?! :D
I'll probably have to get someone to do it because it will be a while before I'm
in good enough condition to set up the blast equip, much less stand there long
enough to do the blasting but I've been following your thread, looking good !
I believe I've got some help pulling the motor and any heavy lifting that is needed
if he can refrain from injecting politics into his every move.
I intend to totally disassemble the motor, every bolt, nut, washer so I'll have all
the separate pieces to blast and paint rather than a bolted together unit. I've heard
the black factory finish is more difficult to remove than the silver...?

I hope I get to ride this thing when/if it's done....long way to go. I hope Mike Nixon
is still boring cyls. I had originally planned to do everything myself, motor, exh. sys.,
body and paint and have only the critical precision machine work done by those that
have the special equip. and vast experience at using it, done to my specs.

I warned my wife that this project was going to be expensive :o 8)
