Don't forget "Thermal Guns" ( infra red temperature devices ) are notoriously inaccurate on reflective surfaces such as chrome or stainless steel unless they are incandescent (glowing.) Below incandescence they like emissivity close to 4 (a black box.) Best check on chrome etc. is with thermal crayons or contact devices....
I do feel that the thermal problems inherent with the CBX engine are due to total combustion chamber surface area with relation to the cooling surface area, especially shadowed behind the front wheel.....
