Thanks Dave, I feel better about the assembly of the tranny now. I learned a long time ago to check things as I went along.

I hope to have her on the road soon.....maybe 3-4 weeks.

I needed to free up some floor area of the garage. I have been using my lift for an assembly platform for the Travesty's engine. Today I set the engine in the frame so I can set the bike on the lift and open up some floor space. Not to bad setting the engine in and I figure I can finish the engine assembly with the engine in the frame.

Mike, the garage is too small, not too many bikes.
Hopefully the oil spot in the driveway is from a car not a bike.

I really didn't want to wrestle the additional weight . Getting half an engine in was precarious enough for me. Over the years I somehow managed to damage my wrist, shoulders,knees and back.

You ave a point. But I was referring to leaving the front wheel and forks off, before you put the head on, if you r&r the head with the motor installed. Obviously, you took the motor out of the frame

Yeah, I did take the engine out but in pieces. My old nieghbor and I wresttled the damn thing out, looked like a couple of keystone cops trying to wrestle the block out of the frame. When I set the block back in I tried some methods I saw posted here but just couldn't get them to work. When I set the engine in I had no help as the old guy next door was off to Vegas for a Porche show of some sort and my wife ....well she's just not into garage stuff and at 61 years is a wee bit weak.

I managed to get the lower engine hanger bolt in then I jacked up the front of the engine until I was able to get the upper mount bolt in. Lifting just the block from my stand to the floor was tough on the back and shoulders. Next time I'll come up with something better. For now it's just brute strength to get the job done.

If I was going to make a living at this I would manufacture a lift, but I think this will be the last one for a while.....I'll be smarter and buy another CBX that is not a junk yard dog.
