Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me if a CBX 1000 pro link pulser will just plug in and fit a 79 CBX1000z Model?

It would but the harness connector is the small-pin variety on the Pro-Link. So - no.

If you go to dubya dubya dubya dot cycleterminal dot com, they have the 0.250" spade connectors and also the Sumitomo lock type 6x position housing if you are unable to use your old one.

It would then be a (relatively simple) matter of removing the small Hitachi type 0.110" housing from the terminals with a small jewellers screwdriver, cutting the ends off, and resoldering the bigger 0.250" connectors onto the same wire.

Probably best to keep as much wire length as possible to ensure it reaches the connector that goes to the igniters.

Follow the wire positions on your old pulser harness ass'y, being sure to get the matched pairs in the correct positions on the 6x position connector, paying particular attention to the tracer wire colours and you should be good to go.

Blue is cyls 1 & 6, red is 3 & 4, Yellow is 2 & 5.

While on the topic of pulsers, does anyone know of a Honda replacement (perhaps from another model) that can be used on the CBX?

I have one of Phil's wiring harnesses to install and along with my Procom igniter kit, ignition coil relay, Dyna coils & leads from Ray (Fasterspider) and new Iridium plugs, the pulsers are the only parts in the whole ignition system that have not yet been replaced.

Funny q, Tony. Only other 6-cyl Honda I know of, is the GL.

There is of course the Kawasaki triples. That is where our Dyna Ignition for the CBX actually comes from
Anyone ever notice that you need to elongate the three openings in the Dyna backing plate to get the correct advance.
