Neutral light won't go out when placed in gear

I just completed a complete restoration of my Prolink. It looks good and seems to be running well. However, I am in the process of chasing down one problem. The green neutral gear light won't go out when I put the bike in gear. Needless to say I would like fix that issue. I pulled the engine as part of the project but I did not do any engine/transmission work. I did take off some engine covers to have them refinished but that is as far as I went.
I would appreciate any advice you might have as to how to go about getting the source of this problem identified. Thanks.

Likely the diode located under the tank plugged directly into the harness. The neutral light circuit is quite complex and needs the diode to channel voltage only one way.

Thanks Dave. Any chance you can give me a part number or where I can find it on the parts schematic or some other way to figure out the part I need?

I am interested in this as well.
Is it part #11 in this '81 schematic?

Yes, Steve, that is the part. On the early models it is located in the headlight shell.

Thanks for the help guys. Hopefully, replacing that part will fix my issue.
