Proud new owner of a '81 CBX! Unfortunately luck was not on my side: the bike was dropped during delivery and now I have to fix/replace some parts...
Any advice on the cosmetic repair? I see some of the parts on ebay but specifically not the grab bar, the instrument housing or '81 side engine covers + screws. Would it be better to have the parts professionally repaired? (sanded and painted I presume)
Glad to have found this forum, and I hope to be a contributing member of this community!

Welcome to the site.
Replacing small bits like that should not be too difficult or expensive to find.
Site members tevan or Louis will probably have what you need.

No insurance from the shipping company?

As mentioned, a couple of members here will have all you need. Honda, I think, still has the oem levers and cap end caps. Bummer, but not bad as it could have been.

Once you have repaired all this, get a set of engine guards. They protect most of the exposed parts during a tip-over.

annoying but quite minor for cbx repairs...crash bars should be a priority, I made that error when I first purchased my 79' "who needs crash bars

", I did a month later when I did a lowside

...I had slightly more damage than you which exceeded the cost of the hondaline crash bar had I bought them on day one
