I am finishing up the restoration of my 1979 CBX and have a question regarding the wiring from the pulser generator to the spark unit. The PO cut the wiring at the 6 place connector. The wiring diagram shows the the 6 wires coming from the pulser generator are yellow, pink and blue with one each of the colored wires having a white tube at the connector. The wires are cut so the white tubes are missing. How can I determine which of the three wires should be the ones with the white tubes?

If you have a wiring diagram (which you are referring to), it shows which wires have a white tube. One of each B, Y and P wire have a white tube. These are the ones that connect to the white wires on the Spark Unit. 1-6 Pulser Blue wire with white tube connects to white wire from Spark unit without a tube. 3-4 Pulser Pink wire with white tube connects to white wire on Spark unit with red tube and 2-5 Pulser Yellow wire with white tube connects to white wire on Spark unit with yellow tube.

That’s my problem none of the wires have a white tube. They have all been cut off the wires.

I would like to know if there is some kind of test(polarity, continuity to ground or some such thing) to identify which wires should have the white tube.

If you are doing a pretty decent restoration. why not just get a replacement pulse unit? I assume the connector to the spark units is still OK? There are lots of those units out there.

Yes, there is a polarity but, I don't know of any simple test that will tell you which is which.

Wired one way, it signals the spark to occur as the reluctor approaches the pickup coil.

Wired the other way, the spark will occur as it passes past it.

The cost of a new set will be soon forgotten the moment the motor starts.

I have new connectors so that is not a problem.

I probed a set for you.

The wires with the white tube pieces are closest to the breaker plate (all three).

Great, Thanks a lot. This should save me a great deal of time getting the bike running.

I have a whole box full of good used pulse units. They are everywhere, as they are removed when installing a Dyna ignition. But thanks JR for ringing them out for us!

Sold! The pulser was actually a Prolink unit. I overlooked the small plug.
