removing carbs with stock airbox without dropping engine

I did it today without mangling the airbox. I'm dis-assembling a stock 79. All I had to do is remove the rear fender liner, battery box, oil line on the left side, air filter box that holds the filter, starter, then remove the rubber boots that go between the air filter and carburetors. The airbox will then slide out the left side. The reason it is much more preferable to drop the engine is because re-assembly you have to install the rubber boots on the air box after sliding the box behind the carbs. It's extremely difficult, there's no room. Also you don't have to remove the starter and a bunch of other stuff if you drop the engine, it's really fairly easy to drop the engine. I've done it both ways.
