countershaft seal

Post by axel »

Any one have a copy of the 1994 issue of the express? It has an article on the oil seal replacement. And i was wondering if some one could get me the details from it.

Also there is an article from pete ruff re cam chain tensioner bolt being stripped. Is this article around as well?

In years of riding the bike this is the first time I have encountered any problems with the x Please help.

axel,

The countershaft seal will be a bitch to fix,as the engine will need to be removed and bottom case popped off to extricate the seal from the countershaft,as it has a lip that rides in a groove in the cases to locate it properly and I believe it's a metal lip that sticks up.Anyone out there know different, let's hear it...... 8)

--The cam chain tensioner,is it the front one on the head?If so,you can remove the bolt and retap it for a larger thread such as 3/8"/16 uss thread, did that on all mine and no problems....... 8)

Thanks Mark, the seal is as I thought a bitch.

The cam chain tension bolt was repaired using a helicoil. insert.

Still iam befuddled why Honda would make such a boo boo in the design of the countershaft seal.

Not looking forward to ripping a part the motor to fix a 20$ seal.
