Bar ID?
From another topic in this library I'm calling the lower bars "Rest of the world bars, 39 mm". Anyone have any idea where the top bars may have originated from?
The rise is about the same on both bars, measuring about 3". The top bars have a much steeper angle on them, with the grip length being the same but not extending out from the forks nearly as far.

Re: Bar ID?
The upper set looks like the ones I'm using on my bike and I believe they're from some model of the Interceptor which had 39mm forks
The lower set I've never seen before . . . . I'm guessing you wouldn't like those, especially not if you'd tried the upper set first. The narrower bars with the slighly more upright riding position will be more comfortable, IMO - Now you just need to find a set of the Sportkit rearsets to go with them

Re: Bar ID?
According to fork seal supplier (Shindy), there are only two other Honda bikes that use 39mm fork seals that also have non-tube type handle bars (besides the 1981 & 1982 CBX).
Based on this, and a check of ServiceHonda parts list, here's what we have for handlebar part numbers: (I'm assuming these are all based on USA market bikes only)

Anyone know if there are any significant physical differences in the various handlebar part numbers?
The VFR's were introduced in 1986 and had 37mm then 41mm forks.

Re: Bar ID?
The upper bars look very similar to the Euro Prolink bars - if they are 39mm. They could also come off an Interceptor.
The lower bars with the flat rise angle look like the ones from a Euro CB900F Bol d'Or or CB1100F Super Bol d'Or. The CB900 in Europe went through 3 different fork tube sizes. From 35mm, like the CB750F, when introduced in 1979 to 37mm and finally to 39mm just before it was replaced by the CB1100F. They all had these type bars.

Re: Bar ID?
All I know is that you have to push the tubes up to get the air caps on the tops of the forks or you'll scratch them up. The 700F bars would be a tighter fit. I'm going to try the Euro bars and see how I like them first before I sell the "VF" bars.

No, Don was here when I was sorting out the parts. 1100F Canadian bars fit me by far the best of any I've tried. Not sure what you mean by 'having to push up the tubes to screw on the caps'. Take the bars off the do that. With the air fittings out, they will slide right off, then you won't scratch anything.

So, these are CB-F Euro or Canadian bars????
I'm not sure how it was on the Prolink or on the 80 with airforks but on a '79 I am working right now, the handlebars WILL NOT slide over the top fork caps.
The outer diameter of the caps is slightly larger than 35mm and even with spreading (careful!!!) the bar clamp, the bars will not go over the caps.

Re: Bar ID?
The 39mm ProLink and/or the 1100F forks are not that way - The bars slide right over the top caps
If I was putting together a bike to *ride* I wouldn't be messing with any 35mm forks - They're fine if your primary concern is to have an occasionally (gently) ridden, as close to stock CBX as possible sitting in your garage (or your dining room
), but if you really like to ride it, the 39mm forks are *highly* recommended . . . . Honda would have put them on there in 1978 if they had a clue what they were doing, IMO - They're *almost* as bad as the stock rear shocks
Anybody know where I can snag a set of the stock '79/'80 reflectors w/brackets for the front forks?

Whoa, whoa there guys. Let's not see another round that!
The bars are going on 39mm ProLink Forks.
