Bearing Locating Dowel

Hi All,
Not sure how to resolve this one?, After splitting the crankcases I discovered that the small locating dowel that sits in the indent in the mainshaft bearing has been mis-aligned in the past, and ended up been pushed too far in its locating hole in the crankcase, resulting in the bearing spinning in the crankcase, not good.
Can anyone suggest how to remove this dowel with minimum damage.
Thanks in advance.

Most likely the dowell pushed out a piece of the case where it bottomed out. Look closely and see if you can find where. If so, use a very small punch through the hole and tap the dowell out. Then repair the hole and reinstall the dowell.

Here's a pic to support & complement Dave's description above ..

In my case, I pushed the dowel pin up and then had the little hole repaired.

Thanks KOOl_BIKER,
Upon closer inspection there has been a repair on both the dowels in the location holes in the crankcase, with some black epoxy type filler, must be a common mistake.
But with help like this, not a problem...
