#2 spark plug is just a little tired. It's leaning over to rest.
Where did that metal end up Mike? In the rings? Ugly.

You got it, Nils. Cross-threaded plug, run that way many miles, resulting in a damaged exhaust valve. 0 psi compression and 95 percent cylinder leakdown. Customer brought it in for carb work.

His carb rebuild is going to run a little over budget.

...and here I thought, somebody customized his CBX with a crossfire injection cylinder head...

BIG ouch!!! Great example/lesson why sparkers should be run all the way down by hand.

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
Yes, another good technique. I use an old CB750 kickstart lever rubber. Been in my toolbox so long it's now nearly petrififed....

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
I just use a spark-plug socket and extension. I spin it down by hand and then torque. I can't even imagine how much torque he must have applied to install a plug at that angle.

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
I use an old rubber spark plug boot, holds tight enough to get the plug started but will slip on the plug if it's cross-threaded.

No more mystery. The heart of the matter. The classic "pie slice." Don't neglect those valve clearances, everyone.

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
Yuck. How is the valve seat Mike? And are the spark plug threads repairable, at least via timesert? Ugly business.
